How to get a great shave - The Fellow Barber Shave Protocol

You can get a better shave. Clients come to Fellow Barber for our signature Straight Razor Shave because they know it feels luxurious. A lot goes into designing a shave regime that leaves your skin soft and smooth. There are 3 steps. Pre-Shave, Shave, Post-Shave. All crucial to get right.

Pre-Shave

Use a pre-shave oil to soften facial hair and provide some slickness to the skin

Apply Shave Cream and work it in thoroughly. A brush can be useful here, but upgrading to Fellow Barber Shave Cream will do wonders if you are used to drugstore gels.

Shave

Use a sharp razor and shave in smooth strokes with the grain of your hair. Try not to go over the same place twice.

Some shavers will do an additional pass against the grain. If you aren't sure if this is you, wait to add this to your routine until you know how your skin reacts.

Post-Shave

Rinse with cold water to clean off excess product and start closing pores.

Use Fellow Barber Everyday Tonic, made with aloe and witch hazel, to further treat your skin.

Apply an after shave lotion to soothe and moisturize your skin. If you have dry skin, you may want to use an additional facial moisturizer for a more nourished feeling.
